The Adelaide Plains Veterinary Surgery is located in Two Wells, a leisurely 40 minute car journey from Adelaide. The Surgery is open from 8:30am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday and 8:30am to 12:00 noon on Saturdays. An after hours Emergency Service is also available.

The Surgery utilises state of the art diagnostic and medical machines and equipment such as ;

The Surgery also has fully air-conditioned kennels for bitches awaiting Artificial Insemination and animals required to stay at the Surgery for extended periods.

The Adelaide Plains Veterinary Surgery offers a wide range of services and medicines for companion animals. These services are undertaken by Dr. John Katakasi supported by qualified Veterinary nurses utilising state of the art equipment.

Services include ;

  • Reproduction Services ; Inseminating bitches, Caesarian Sections, Ultrasounds, Progesterone Testing, Public Storage of Frozen Semen. Dr Katakasi is currently achieving a 94% success rate in inseminating bitches with frozen semen. The resultant average litter size is 7.5 pups.
  • Chiropractics for agility dogs, greyhounds and show dogs
  • Orthopaedic Surgery
  • Greyhound Medicine ; getting greyhounds to peak performance
  • Training in the Camelot Semen Preservation System

Veterinarian Dr. John Katakasi BVSc (Hons) graduated from Sydney University in 1995 with Honors. He has since spent time in the United States undergoing training in the Camelot Semen Preservation System. Indeed Dr Katakasi is the only vet in South Australia who has successfully undertaken training in this world renowned system of collecting and processing semen. He is also the Australian Director of Training for the Camelot System and has trained Studmasters around Australia. While Dr Katakasi has the academic knowledge and practical experience to address injuries and diseases of companion animals ( dogs and cats ) he has long had a passion for greyhounds and as such has become very skilled in treating their maladies and injuries.

Dr Katakasi is supported by well trained and highly motivated staff. The Veterinary nurses all have Diplomas or Certificates in Veterinary Nursing which are recognised Australia and industry wide. The nurses are a good first port of call and are very empathetic when dealing with people whose animals are in distress or require surgery.

Staff at the Adelaide Plains Veterinary Surgery not only make the treatment of its animal clients as least stressful as possible but also understand the unique bond that exists between them and their owners.
